GEOTHERMAL HVAC in the Sequoia |
While Geothermal seems like it’s on the edge of cutting green technology,
it has actually been in use for several decades and is a time-tested way
of providing a more comfortable (less humid) air in an extremely energy
efficient way.
‘Geo’ means earth, and ‘thermal’ means energy. The Tim O’Brien Homes
WaterFurnace System makes use of geothermal heat pump technology to
tap the energy below the earth’s surface and drive a heating and air
conditioning system that is ideal for creating an energy-efficient high-performance
home. The result is a green or natural heat pump that saves on utility costs,
saves energy and benefits the environment.
During the heating cycle, a WaterFurnace geothermal heat pump uses the
earth loop to extract heat from the ground. As the system pulls heat from a
loop feed, it uses a heat-transfer fluid to collect and disperse heat energy
and distributes it through a conventional duct system as warm air. The same
heat energy is also used in a radiant floor system under the basement floor
of the 2010 Parade of Homes, Tim O’Brien Homes Model; the Sequoia. In
the cooling mode, the heating process is reversed - creating cool, conditioned
air throughout the home. Instead of extracting heat from the ground, heat is
extracted from the air in your home and either moved back into the earth loop,
or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.
Overall, the Geothermal system is durable, dependable, quiet and is up to
400% more efficient than traditional heating and cooling. Tim O’Brien Homes
is proud to offer this eco-friendly and money saving option in our homes.
